September of 1999? You were ahead of use by a decade! How did you do it? ;)

I assume that the IQ of the 7DII is going to be about the same as the 7D?

There will be negligible IQ difference

Well I read the first couple of pages on this thread and it looks good to me. My 50D is going to have to move to back up, I think. As attractive as FF is, I think 7DII will keep me on a crop, at least for a while.

As to the posts on this thread - There are some folk that just can't be happy. "A lot people don't have much food on their table but they got a lot forks and knives and they gotta cut somethin' ". Bob Dylan, 1961

Well, I'm looking forward to a few independent reviews and not guessing from the spec sheet. I am the target consumer that canon is after, soccer dad who likes to dabble with his camera. It would have been nice to have more bells and whistles, but then again would it be at the same price point.

I would consider a significant improvement in ISO capability as an IQ improvement.

Although you should enjoy it, I'm not sure you were the target. I see the target as a serious sports/wildlife advanced amateur or pro who needs a weather-resistant fast camera with reach.

I'm not sure I'm ready to buy yet, but if I do I think this camera will be a logical step from the 60d.

With a 70D sensor?

Many sources have already stated it's a whole new sensor from Canon.

*Sigh*

The Canon 7D Mark II does not have the same sensor as the Canon 70D.

i've been thinking, and as much as i could see myself benefit from this camera...i think it's actually too specialized for sports/action...i mean say i use my camera 60% of the time for that...there's still a whole lot else i use it for, where the bells and whistles of the 70D help me out more...who knows maybe one day down the line...but when's the 7D III coming out :)?

I completely agree mate, I would love this for the little bit of sports shooting I do, but then a 6D would be much better for landscape work etc, hmm looks like I'm going to have to save hard for a 5D Mark III to get the best of both haha!

I expected more In 2014 from Canon given the competition. I love the 5D3 btw.

I'm with you there! Especially with the specs on the new 7DMKII. Not really impressed, except for the price.

Not when you got everyone else stepping up their game.

For example, Samsung's new NX1. 15FPS, 28MP, max shutter 1/8000, 205 AF with 153 of those cross type,

It's still the same crop technology. No matter how hard they try, an APS sensor will never produce the same quality as FF.
