I haven't pre-ordered (yet ), but I think the spec sheet looks great for my needs. My interests are birds, wildlife, and airshows - and I prefer to operate with two bodies. For several years, I've been using a pair of 40Ds, and patiently waited for this 7D2 camera body to be released. The improved AF, ISO sensitivity, and shutter frame rate are what appeal most to me.
So while betting that the rumors were true, a few weeks ago, I picked up a 7D classic from B&H - which included a spare battery and a 16GB Sandisk CF card - all for $999. I've already noticed a big step up from the 40D to the 7D, so my plan is to now pick up a 7D2 and use it as my primary, with the 7D as backup. I realize the 40Ds probably aren't worth much, but I may try to sell them to help fund everything. I'm very happy with the 7D2 announcement.
