It is really funny and so surprising that always entry level cameras newest models are discussed to be compared with FF, if so then i should sell my FF cameras and never buy one if an APS-C and newer smaller sensor cameras beats FF, comparing newest FF with newest APS-C i mean, when do you think we can see an APS-C camera with 60mp and high DR and amazing clean high ISO @30000 for say $1800?

People who compare APS-C (and not even a "new-new" sensor) to an FF sensor are kinda strange to me.
It's also strange to me that people who didn't find the 70D IQ enough of a boost suddenly say the 7D2 has enough of an IQ boost and never had any complaints about the 7D AF system either.

Well, for many of the people on PotN, it's huge. These people have been using the same camera for 5 years (I know, it's unbelievable). All this time their pictures have been getting worse and worse as their camera got older and older. But now they can start taking great pictures again - with a new shiny toy.

LOL bw!

FWIW the Canon UK site has a pdf booklet with AF settings, much like they produced for the 1DX and the 5D3

Scroll down to the end of this linked pge and click the linky there titled "Focus Guide" http://www.canon.co.uk …EOS_7d_mark_ii/index.html (external link)

HTH :)
Edit ~ sorry if posted before but Canon Japan has this samples page but only JPEG and movies http://web.canon.jp …ng/eosd/samples/eos7dmk2/ (external link)

Well, I've never used a 70D, but I hear you. However, I have thousands of 7D photos with excellent IQ. If there was anything that I was hoping Canon would address it was the 7D AF system. While it was fine, I think that improving AF, especially for this sort of camera, provides more value than IQ improvements that require pixel-peeping to document.

i could see people with a 7D not finding enough from the 70D to make them want to make that jump...the AF wasn't improved, aside from dual pixels, there was a slight jump in IQ, and the bells and whistles that the 7D didn't have...

but for 7D users going to a 7D II seems to have improved on more, with the AF dual pixel, FPS, etc.

i do think there will be a lot of comparing/decision making for some between a 70D and 7DII...because there are differing pros and cons for each body...it's not like a 7DII can do everything a 70D can, and vice versa...

Are you saying that sensors deteriorate with age?

That's pretty much right on; plus, I ****really**** dislike the 70D control layout, etc. They stayed with the more classic, two-wheel + thumbstick for the MkII which is one of the things that always attracted me to the xxD/7D line anyway.

Nothing in the 70D offered enough of a step over the 7D for the things I shoot to make shelling out for for one worthwhile. Hell, even the max ISO on the 70D was only a single stop gain.

For ME, just having a built-in intervalometer, a moderate improvement in ISO 1600-6400 is enough and ability to AF @ f/8 are the things pushing me over for the MkII. The fact that they've improved the AF, added more, cross-type AF sensors and boosted the max ISO by
2 stops, added a stop and a half to non-expansion ISOs, added dual card slots, an extra 2fps and whatever else is just gravy.

I have a 70D and use it mostly for BIF. I've got a 7D2 already ordered hoping for faster AF. But I like the 70D flip screen when I'm shooting low macro or landscape that I'm bemoaning the fact that Canon skipped the flip screen on the 7D2. I believe the flip screen (and touch screen) trumps the 7D 3" screen. It's not like a flip screen is new technology. Why would Canon leave it off?

Because it's comparatively fragile for a camera whose target audience is the sidelines of sports venues and in the woods looking for birds and wildlife.

Hello everyone, my first post here and I would like to chime in when comparing cameras. I owned a Canon 5D Mark II and traded it in for the 70D because of its horrible focusing system. Yes I really did trade a Full Frame for a Crop Sensor and here is why. If you ever shot with the 5D mark II, then you know its limitations when it comes to focus tracking. When I got my hands on the 70D, focus tracking did not let me down and the photos came out really well. Either way you are going to be getting a fantastic camera if you decide to go with the 70D or the new 7D mkII. It really comes down to budget.

Here are a couple of my first shots with the 70D. There is vignetting in the corners however that was intentional and was done in post.
