LP-E6N battery - compatible with older cameras using LP-E6?

So, the 7D2 will be using a new LP-E6N battery with a higher capacity, but can also use the older, original LP-E6 battery used by some other cameras.

Will the new battery also be usable with older cameras which use the LP-E6? After all, it's the same size and shape, with electrodes at the same places and has the same voltage - just a higher power density.

Well they made 1d owners buy 1dx batteries, and that needs the 1dx charger or the battery can lose charge over time. So, maybe...
