I've been saving for years but am going to wait for a bit more news and reviews. I have some concerns.

Nice Butch! Both will do tremendously well for surfing and BIF!

Me too. I'd like a bit more info on the sensor. With the information I've seen, it looks like a minor evolution rather than a game changer that a lot of folks had in mind. My 40D, while still going strong, is in need of a younger sibling. I expect it will be the 7D2. So the specs will determine timing rather than yes/no. I'm not a videographer. So that stuff means nothing to me. I'm also not a megapixel counter. It's encouraging that the press release did have a lot of emphasis on still photography.

Glad that Canon has released an update to the 7D. Notice that the sensor is a 20.2 or so. The Nikon and Pentax (K-3) top ASP-C's are 24 and change and both these companies use the highly regarded Sony Exmor sensor.

If you have a 7D and plan on selling it....you better be with it......with them already selling for $650-$700...this will shoot them under $500.00 by the end of the year.

So am I the only one that remembers that we were waiting to see if this camera body still has pattern noise at LOW ISO 100 when you boost the shadows or do a +4 exposure recovery???!!

If it does, then we are still dealing with a sensor that doesn't match the Sony or Nikon sensors.

I think it's more than just the. DR of 14ev+ at low ISO, no need for an AA filter for increased sharpness, those are wanted as well.
