I think this is one of your Top5 Fox shots ever.
Fantastic in many ways, especially in taming what appears to be golden light.

Thanks Guy, it does have a special kind of look.

You are doing okay with the crappy high school stadium lighting you have to deal with.

Focus looks pretty good to me! Too bad about the framing. If the person had stepped a few feet to their right, they would have centered the group between the goalposts, instead of having one of them sprouting from the kid's head.

Double duty with the 5D4 and 7D2 at the games, couple mascot and fan shots, both at high ISO.

This is where a tripod and a wireless-enabled body comes in handy. You can do this with the 7D2, using an MR3040 router and a free DSLR controller app, where other bodies now have that capability built-in.

Sounds like you have the basics down. I would recommend you practice when they do. Shoot as many frames as you can during their practices to get the timing and framing down. Also, you can practice your locations and see where you get the best results. Also, you can learn the plays each team runs if you watch practice and that can help with anticipating where the play might occur. You can pre-focus to a certain degree...

And you are doing well now, so don't get down on yourself. If you are comparing your shots to some I see here, or online for sports mags or such, don't... Equipment can make a huge difference in general for football images. You are doing a good job now and practice will continue to help you improve. Focus on what is going well, and enjoy getting out there!

This.

Because the equipment the pros use is so accessible to everyone, we tend to forget that photography, at its core, is as much an art as a craft and a science. And just like the finest brushes and easels probably won't turn you into a Rembrandt, either you can "see" the photo in your head before you take it, or you don't. Some have that vision and others (myself included) don't. And often, it's that vision that makes the difference between a competent photo and something that gets into a magazine or becomes a classic.

I like these high ISO shots. I have no problem shooting 12,800 if I have to.

I forgot to say. I sold my 5D3 with the anticipation of getting the 5D4 and then selling m7 7D2. I was thinking just owning one body. I took a very serious look the D500 but changed my mind. Looks like I will go back to owning two bodies. Deciding between the 5D4 and 5DRS.
