It's been a long time since I contributed to the thread. I was happy with the cold snap here in the midwest as it has the Des Moines river frozen over pretty well and the bald eagles are congregating at open water again. I love this time of year!
There were 2 distinctly different but equally bad shooting conditions this weekend. Saturday was grey, dark and gloomy with snow at times near blizzard conditions. Sunday was -11 F when I left home to go sit along the river, the sun was up and I thought that would make for awesome shooting, however, the river was blanketed in a 3 foot steam as the water was that much warmer than the air temp.
That being said, it was very fun and I got some keepers. Here are a few.

Thanks guys. I've been so busy since summer I've not had much opportunity to photograph anything but people. Felt really good to get back to shooting something I don't have to pose!

Cold morning building up some fog.

Found an Anhinga striking a pose for me this morning. What a dreary day.

Ahh. I thought maybe the ones around Palm Springs. Terrain looks familiar. I've driven past those 3 times going to Joshua Tree Nat Park.

Hi bjbsav, Can I inquire what the ISO is on these images? I'm trying to decide whether to go with a 7dii or keep saving pennies for a 5diii so I have been looking at images and see more noise than I thought I would (From a 7dii) from a basketball game. I am shooting a 70d and shoot everything from portraits to sports to wildlife and am just trying to make the best choice overall. Thanks in advance.
