Snowy day yesterday,..didn't get much in the gray light of the day. But there's always a way to make something of a bad day

Kingfisher taken at 840mm in terrible light @ ISO6400 @ 1/125 Handheld.

My first reaction was "great picture".

Until I read...

840mm @ 1/125, HANDHELD

Then my thoughts turned to...

This guy must have some incredible technique (or the ability to not breathe, stop his heart, and turn into a stone pillar). I sometimes have a hard enough time hand holding 200mm @ 1/125 outdoors on a 7dmkII, let alone 840mm.

Really well done, and a reminder that I need to work on my technique even more.

The IS on some of the newer lenses is really excellent.

I shot this with the 500/4 II on a rather gloomy Portland day. 1/80 sec handheld.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Telling me how good the IS has become on the new lenses is going to make my wife hate you all.

Honey...I think I need to upgrade and buy a new lens or two...
