I found that NIK did a good job but is aggressive. I did not take the time to learn how to use it manually. I just just use LR or ACR now. First off the 7D2 is a light hungry sensor. A correct exposure and even a little to the right is paramount for this camera.

I would just apply what I learned in LR to NIK and adjust to taste.

My 7D (not 2) at 12,800

No NR. I turned the default of 25 to zero.

Apply colour noise until the blochies go away. Once done stop. Going any further does not accomplish anything and actually starts to change hue.

IMAGE: http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d74/Zenon1/NR%20examples/AACR-color-noise_zpsf65d9e7d.jpg~original

Then apply luminance to taste.

Final product

Hi Mark, would be interested in what settings you use as I find Nik dfine2 cleans up the noise but destroys too much fine detail when I use it compared to using the Lightroom NR sliders.

i
I always use auto Graham or use the brush option, I also use Neatimage a very reliable program just download the profiles for your cam.

A peek into the world of insects, using the Canon 100mm F2.8L macro lens.

A Lynx Spider guarding her nest and some ants cleaning up a dead moth.

I had the perfect combination of light and wind direction for my couple of hours down at the Des Moines River in my little burlap camo hide yesterday afternoon. Too many great shots to cull through the folder in one day. Really had a great afternoon off work. Many more on my Flickr and many more to come.
