I'm waiting for a good analysis of a controlled test between 7D I and II with the 5D3 or 6D in for good measure, not so much for the sake of pixel peeping but to assess the quality of the noise and how well it responds to NR.

I remember 7D files being a nightmare to clean up, especially if they were underexposed. The 1D3, 1DsII, and now 6D files are very very forgiving and can ultimately be worked to an acceptable result in my experience. I couldn't quite do that with the 7D. I'm assuming more of the same with that many pixels crammed on a crop sensor. Hopefully the quality of the noise is more manageable even if the amount of noise isn't really an improvement.

The 70D is very "clean" noise, it cleans up easily, I can't imagine the 7D2 would be worse and if Canon is to be believed they have improved on the 70D's sensor for the 7D2 to make it even more clean.

Wait...you ordered one!? Nooooooo!

(J/k...enjoy the new hotness. :D )

Yeah...I did... Debating on the 70D (sell or keep..), I think for now at least I'm going to slap my 18-55 STM on it and use it for a lighweight video rig.

Ouch, page 142 - to achieve max shooting speed with a 100-400L you have to have IS disabled and only work in one-shot mode, looks like it cannot do servo with that lens and still burst so fast or run IS (of course, at 1/1000 shutter as the minimum shutter speed for 10fps, you probably don't need it on anyway..) Wonder if that is an indicator that the 100-400 is soon to be upgraded to a new version that is compatible.

Wow, end of November (maybe), nice. Too bad they will probably charge at least $2000 for it if Canon's pricing model for new lenses is any indication.

I just wished they had updated the 400/5.6 to go with this release.

It's not password protected, so I am not sure. Canon doesn't protect their training material that way. I guess they don't like the direct link to the PDF vs the page that gets you there.

This seems to work which comes from what Tom posted below.

I have received a couple of requests for unprocessed high ISO sooc shots. While I am not any kind of expert at this kind of thing here is the best I can do at this time. ISO 6400, straight to DPP, NR sliders set to 0, exported to photoshop for conversion to JPEG. No cropping, no adjustemtns of any kind. You can view the full res version on Flickr. It looks underexposed, but it was getting dark in my back yard and it is pretty darn close to what the light was at the time. This was auto ISO AE at 5.6 with the 100-400L. Again, this is just for your amusement, this is NOT any kind of scientific test. I will leave that to the experts.
