That looks pretty close to the 7D, the noise is a bit more fine perhaps. I wonder what I can do with this using my noise actions... :)

It does look like you have sharpening set on the raw, you should take that down to 1, especially at 6400 with NR sliders down.

Just a quick run using the steps I had last used with the IR files. Resized down a bit to get more material in the frame.

Ouch, page 142 - to achieve max shooting speed with a 100-400L you have to have IS disabled and only work in one-shot mode, looks like it cannot do servo with that lens and still burst so fast or run IS (of course, at 1/1000 shutter as the minimum shutter speed for 10fps, you probably don't need it on anyway..) Wonder if that is an indicator that the 100-400 is soon to be upgraded to a new version that is compatible.

I would think more than a few 7DII owners would have the 100-400 - does this make anyone else wonder what AI Servo burst performance with that lens might be? I use mine a lot for soccer, football, etc... one shot mode sure isn't going to cut it. Am I missing something here? Wait and see...

Seeing this I am more than a little concerned.

I don't know if the new lens has anything to do with the issue. I am leaning more to age of the lens and its programming and AF motor.

Doh! Here is one more I just took tonight. Same cat, same place
This time, noise reduction AND sharpness have been dialed back to 0 ( I misread I guess and should have left it at 1). I'm not cut out for this type of stuff, LoL. I'm going out tonight with my 500 for a moon shot. Something I feel compelled to do with every new body I get.

Maybe someone can sacrifice 1D2n to get 7DII, but will someone sacrifice 1D mkIII for 7DII?

I'd think the older lenses might use more power(but I'd also think there'd be other that are just as bad or worse) so I'm thinking it has something to do with how much power the battery can deliver. I have problems getting my 5DIII to work if I put a big white lens on it using Ni-MH AAs in the grip.

I'd still prefer that it would have used a 1 series battery or at least have an optional grip that using one.

Okay, here is my quick attempt at clean up on that. I still see blue "blobs" much like on the 7D. They clean up alright though.

Considering that a good copy of the 7D matches up to the 1D3 at 6400, why not? Lower ISOs are hopefully cleaner on the 7D2 to match up better to the 1D3.

If you look at the list those are all some of the oldest lenses still in production. That is one shot AF mode.

Honestly speaking, i never care about how clean ISO will be, my only concern or worry will be how good the AF speed and burst and AI Servo on 7DII compared to 1D3.

Based on all the reviews from those that have shot with that, and 1Ds, the 7D2, with a new RGB and IR system, should rival if not beat it, and it will focus in lower light even.

Which 1Ds? 1DX? 1D4? 3, 2? or 1Ds that full frame cameras?

I want real tests against say 1D2n and 1D3 and/or 1D4, i can let 1D2n go, but i am not sure i will let 1D3 go easily yet, i know 7D2 is almost better in many ways and newer camera and tech, but sometimes newer is not always better.
