Doug, Butch - no focusing issues with your bodies.

Nice.

Im not butch but I've done a simple test with mine and didn't see any focus issues with my canon lenses. Now my Sigma sometimes screws up some.

Interesting to hear that some folks may be having some focusing inconsistencies. I've only used mine a little after calibrating using dot tune. My gut feeling is that the focusing is missing sometimes when it shouldn't. I'll pay more attention and try some tests.

Here's was a shot that came out well in gorgeous morning light.

I still have my Df as well. It's really the difference in using crop vs full frame. I plan on using my 7D Mark II 90% of the time for BIF. Maybe 10% for my kids sports. The rest will be my Df/D810 combo especially where lighting might be poor.

With that said BIF and my kids sports is a majority of my photography. I might end up ditching my D810 but it depends on the performance of the 7D2 when the eagles migrate down here in about a month. With my Df, I did try selling but got no interest so at the very least I will use it for low light shooting and a "walk around" body. I would definitely always want one full frame, I wouldn't get rid of both.

I'd be very interested to know how your decision ends up playing out. If you don't mind me asking, what were you using prior to the M2 for your BIF/kids sports?

I kept on trying to get a sense of attachment to my D810. It's a fantastic body and the acclaim that I receives from everyone who has tried it is justified. There are little flaws with it, yet I couldn't get attached to it. It didn't drive me to go out there and shoot and I couldn't place a finger on why it was. Maybe it's a purely emotional decision that's drawing me back to Canon (I shot Canon for the first 9 years or so of photography), or the lenses that I miss (135L being a big one). I could never afford the 7D when it was released and it could be that now Im in a place where I can afford and justify the M2, so it could be the case of a boy finally being able to buy the one toy that alluded him all thse years. I suffer from GAS as much as anyone I know so it's my dearest hope that I can finally settle down and grow an attachment to a single camera.

Ive had my 7d2 for a few days now and i am loving the AF system and my increased keeper rate. Its so customizable and because you can turn off things you dont use, finding everything you need without looking away from the viewfinder is possible.

I happened to grab this shot on my way out of the local wetlands today. 2000 iso https://photography-on-the.net …699559&stc=1&d=1416024764https://photography-on-the.net …699563&stc=1&d=1416027276

And this one the day before. I love the 1.6 crop factor

Yeah!!! After shooting two night football games with the 7D2, I get to shoot one in the daylight tomorrow (well, at least, late evening). I might even break out the Canon 2X extender III in the first half while it is real light so see how it does on the 70-200 f/2.8 lens.

How are people finding the out of camera sharpness on this new camera? One of my issues with the copy I had of the 7D was that it could be a little bit soft wide open. This required more sharpening, which would increase image noise...

I'm hoping that the 7D Mark II is better in this regard. One of the things that instantly stuck out to me when I started using the Sony a7 was how much sharper images are SOOC. And that's using lenses that were all made in the 70's and 80's.

I don't think this was answered directly, but here's a jpeg SOOC. All in-camera NR and sharpening is turned off:

Normally corvids are a light gobbling black hole, so really pleased with this RAW shot in overcast and diffused foggy light, developed in DPP.

Nice work!

As a river fisherman I see these little flashes of bright blue occasionally. Great capture of a beautiful bird.

Had the shutter in silent mode so manged to get a few shots off, before it got bored. Which wasn't long.

8000 ISO, used LR to get rid of some of the noise. Must admit not too great at this.
