Yeah!!! After shooting two night football games with the 7D2, I get to shoot one in the daylight tomorrow (well, at least, late evening). I might even break out the Canon 2X extender III in the first half while it is real light so see how it does on the 70-200 f/2.8 lens.

Excellent night action shot. I personally wouldn't use a crop to shoot night football but obviously you're getting superb results.

Im gonna do a lot of testing with this with people and wildlife in the next 2 weeks. Lining up some models now. A little cold out here but we will make it happen.

I know I'm asking something out of the normal realm of the 7D2 camera and user. But since i'm far from normal I'll ask anyway.

Would one of you new owners be able to take a shot, at ISO 100, that has a larger dynamic range than the usual action/bird shot and raise the shadows by a stop or 2? I'm really interested in what the noise looks like that hides in the shadows.

I've been playing around with the AI Servo "cases" and combinations of my 500mm, 500 + 1.4x, and 500 + 2x, for BIF.

So far, Case 1 and Case 2 seem to work best for me, used on terns and pelicans in flight so far. I can see where Case 3 would be useful, too.

I tried out Case 6 yesterday on some frigatebirds who were moving quickly, erratically, and changing speed... utter failure. I couldn't get it to focus well, and then when it had focus, it would lose rather than tracking. I switched to Case 1 and at least got some acceptable results.

Only because I have a full frame camera that would produce cleaner files at a higher ISO.

I didn't mind shooting my 7D at 12,800 if I had to. I would have not preferred to shoot that high but in a pinch. Cleaned up very well but it is true - it is not a FF. All depends on how big the prints are and client expectations. From a hobby standpoint it is no big deal to me.

Thanks for the info buddy. Might have to wait until black friday and see if they do any kind of sell. I really want it for the time lapse and motorized tripod head. Anyways back to the pictures. Heres on i shot today.
