I missed many things on my 5D3 that my 7D2 has. As you said the 5D4 made up for that. I pretty much shot with my 5D4 all of last summer with 1. 4 TC to make up for that. I never liked using a TC on my 7D2 because enjoy using all the AF point options too much. I have fun with it. I like experiment and use all the Cases and AF options.

I did dust off my 7D2 this summer and forgot how much I liked using it. I really prefer the 5D4's IQ even with the TC. Nothing wrong with the the 7D2, the 5D4 just edges it out. A slight AF speed delay which I can live with. However when shooting smaller erratic birds which is tough with anything you use the 7D2 and 100-400 II only would be a better option unless you don't mind cropping. I don't and sometimes you can can really push it and it is better than 7D2. I'm hoping the 7D3 is an improvement with that and AF. I'm torn between selling both bodies and getting a 1DX II or waiting it out for a 7D3. Also I'm seriously considering becoming a one body owner.

This is from last summer using the 5D4 and 100-400 II - no TC. Bird from the bottom left hand corner.

DP,
Thanks for the example. In your example, your large crop (roughly 70%), in doing some quick math, it applied about 50sensor-pixels per inch of duck, really only enough for this field of view oI the cropped image. printing probably Max 8x10 and still print at about 200ppi. Pretty Decent.

2 body talk... I've been thinking of selling the 70D and get a 5Dc, keeping my 7D2. Hope the 7D3 does not come out in the next 12 months cuz I would likely get it lol, which I cannot reasonably afford..., which has never reasonably stopped be previously ;-)a

I've mainly been a hermit in 2018, not getting out much at all. But visiting this thread... Time for a walk with my sig 150-600c!
