I finally got out today to give the 7D 2 a spin. It was sunny all day.....and clouded up right when we got the the La Chua Trail. We still have a great time.

I will sure be glad when Adobe releases the updates for the 7D 2. These are tweaked jpegs.

hi some great shots of birds deer etc :D- from my limited use so far of the 7d mk II re its noise control and detail I reckon its noise control appears pretty good for sure but IMHO it seems it maybe could be at the price of some loss of the small detail - in fact so far I reckon the detail is maybe no better than the 7dc from what I can see to now  but maybe it will be show up better detail when LR and PS catch up :D

cheers

Captured this one today. Got some other angles of it that I need to process.
Seems like my second Mark II might be fine!

I've never seen this before, lol...

I could use some advice. I took several photos of a great white egret yesterday and the bird himself was over exposed. All the details were gone, obviously. What should I have done differently?

Evaluative metering, Center point expanded (4 point), AI servo.

Spot meter. The fun of birds, they will underexpose when against the bright sky (especially if it is hazy or cloudy) and white birds will get blown out when in the brush. Alternatively use Auto ISO and exposure comp to dial it back. Also check the histogram for a spike on the far right, although by the time you get there the bird might be gone.

Keyan, I was going to try that next.. thx for confirming it. I had the highlight warning enabled...so when I reviewed the photos, parts of the bird were rotating black, like a .gif..... Silly me, I thought the camera had a problem.

I didn't figure it out until I got home.

Yeah, I wish canon would link the spot meter to the AF point...,,but they have to leave something for the 1DX I suppose....
