Jeff - QUite and Exquisite photograph! Ironically, on my monitor at full-view, it seems softer than at 100% pixel peep view. Just a great composition (and technique)!!

I had read somewhere that 7D MkII has that feature (Link spot meter to AF point)

I had read the same that in Evaluative Meetering, exposure would be tied to the focus point. I think we might have had hopeful reading when we (you and I) remembered that as Spot Metering tied to the focus point???

I got the 7D Mark II and took it out to test at an Air show. So far, I'm not disappointed at all. I heard from one of my friend said the images came out soft. Contacted Canon and they said there are some have "Shipping Issues", whatever that is. She's sending it back to Canon for repair. I think mine is OK.

Here are a few shots

Question: I'm grabbing a 7D2 but have never shot video before and know I will do some with this new body. Know I need new cards so what size do you recommend, please.

Loving seeing the images and reading the feedback so far.

One of the best 7D2 images I have seen! At 100% it shows some of the best detail I have seen so far. Lots of shots from the 7DII at 100 % have lacked detail. This photo is great and I think if the Adobe supported the RAW file you would get even more detail out of this shot. Wonderful photo! Which lens?

In general the 7DII files with the Tammy zoom seem to look the worst to me at 100% as far as detail is concerned. Again it could be many factors as I am only viewing other peoples files at 100%. But just an observation.

Came out shot? Interested in hearing more about these shipping issues and what your friend finds out - some people have reported some focus problems and I wonder if Canon is acknowledging it.

The Tamron zoom is a $1000 lens with a huge focal range. I admire it for the fact that it makes such reach so accessible, but I have never seen a shot from it that is as tack sharp or detailed as what you can get with Canon L telephotos or the solid Sigma glass like the 120-300.

SOFT, sorry for the typo.

Canon said it will be 5 to 7 business day to repair it. So I am still waiting to hear back.

I shot these below shots with 300mm IS II + 1.4 TC III. 1/1000 sec, F8. I focused on the bird and looks like the whole body was out of focus. I probably will have to adjust it a little bit for front focus.

I also have problem with DPP software that came with the camera. It doesn't work with OSX Yosemite. I finally had to download it from Canon website, they updated on Nov 4th, and it works well. I don't know much about DPP, but LR doesn't support it yet and I shoot 99% RAW so it will have to do for now.

Focusing on the 7D Mark II is not as good as the 1DX or 5D Mark III. But the burst speed kind of make up for it. I am very please to have it as a back up body or when I rather travel light and don't want to lug my 1DX and 600mm lens with me.
