highly recommended as I believe this is Canon's bang for the buck UWA lens for aps-c.
if budget is not an issue, I would recommend the Tamron 10-24mm f/3,5-f/4,5 Di II VC HLD  :p

I have used the 7D mkII for indoor sports at 3200 ISO quite often.

As a second body? Nah, primary? Sure
ISO3200? all the time
