Anyone found a problem deleting files?
I am recording raw to cf card and jpg to SD.
When I review files and delete on it only deletes the file on the card I am reviewing from. Manual states that if you are recording raw and jpg both versions will be deleted.
Any one have a solution or is this a bug in the firmware.

^^^ I agree with this

For my use so far, youth hockey, I love it.

Settings are basically:
- SS = 1/1000
- ISO 2500 (changes slightly per arena)
- 70-200 IS @ F 2.8
- AI Servo Case 2 (-2, +1, 0)
- 2 cards both to RAW
- Anti Flicker Enabled (arena lights)
- I move between Single Spot and expanded 4pt
- Program DofF Button to Switch to Registered AF Function (9pt Zone Auto focus)
- I adjustment my 70-200 IS to w=+8, t=+8 after doing a Dot Tune

I am basically happy with this setup but I'm still going to keep trying different adjustments to the AI Servo. There is a lot going on in hockey with players constantly having other players passing in front and there is very erratic movements so that is why I'm playing with Acceleration / Deceleration.

The Anti Flicker has definitely helped eliminate (so far) the pulsating green / magenta that happens in certain arenas (still more to test here).

I have concluded that my 5D3 does deliver slightly better low light (cleaner iso 3200) but the buffer size, fps, anti flicker, and putting 20 megapixels in a smaller arena - make it a great solution for non-professional sports and making a $2000 70-200 and $1800 7D2 give you 92% of what a $6500 1Dx and a $7000 300mm f2.8 or $11k 400mm 2.8.

Finally, for a personal such as myself who is a Wedding 5D3 user, the other massive benefit is that I didn't have to learn another camera - and that was the final decision variable for me. I was choosing between dumping my two 5D3s and getting two 1Dxs or adding a 7D2 - I went with the 7 D2 and will likely use the 'savings' to buy a 300mm F2.8.

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Goto the 4th menu option (with the wrench) and the first menu choice on the first sub tab is called (Record Func + Card/folder sel.) Hit Enter. Scroll down to (Playback) and change playback to [2] which changes to the SD Card. If you now Delete - you will delete from that card.

I know about that but it means if shooting raw and jpg onto different cards you can't delete file on the other card when reviewing shots. You end up with a different set of shots on each card. If you store them both on one card they keep in synch when deleting.

That is correct - works the same on the 5D3 - and I never viewed it as a negative. In different situations, I set up my CF and SD card differently but in a wedding situation they are both RAW and thus one car I want as a backup. I go back and forth with Raw + JPEG but I have decided, after testing, that on the 7D2 I am only going to shoot Raw / Raw or Jpeg / JPEG as Raw / Jpeg you lose performance and I bought the 7D2 for sport / performance.

So, with that in mind, my second card is alway a backup and it stays in the camera and once I have the pictures I need and backed up, I just format the other card I leave in the camera. I also convert the Rate Button into a Protect Button, always set the Playback to Card 2, (use my macbook pro), and on the occasion that I use my SD Eyefi Wifi card, having Playback set to Card 2, the Rate / Protect Button on reviewing pictures will start the automatic wifi upload to my ipad if I want that kind of setup.

Yes you are correct - but I don't think it was done in error. Maybe they could have it as a menu choice but I would never use it as I want the 2nd card as a complete backup and I don't want any files deleted until I'm certain I don't need them.

With some complaining that focus was just not quite there (i.e. soft) and after Canon told Big Country that his AF system was front focusing and seeing that yours and mine was front focusing, too. I wander how many out there whose AF system is front focusing also. Just a thought.

My adjustments were all for front focusing. Nothing more than +10 though. So nothing that would be crazy bad. They were definitely needed though.

I have no experience with the 7D (having switched to Canon only this year), but in low light / low contrast situations I'm not happy yet. The 5D3 certainly has no trouble, so that's my point of reference. The thing is, the AF of the 7DII is blazingly fast, faster than the 5D3. The 7DII drives my 400/5.6 so quickly as I only remember from my days with a 200/2. If only it also were precise! It would be good if it would just slow down in poor light and be more accurate. Maybe I'll find some setting for that...

Thank you! Aside from some starting trouble, it is an amazing camera.

In poor light I haven't even tried BIF, since I've had trouble even with stationary subjects. But in good light I'm now using Case 4, Large Zone AF and AI Servo of course. I've set up the AF-ON button for Single Point AF and the "*" button for Large Zone AF, so I can quickly switch between stationary and flying birds. It works well so far (in good light anyway).

I believe it has been suggested to focus on(punny) a few settings when not happy with low contrast AF-
1. AF focus search
2. AI servo - focus priority for first/second (not equal), and Tracking -2
3. Single or Spot point focus so you know exactly which point will be used and no potential helper or other zone points.

Let us know if these help, good luck.

Guy

Unfortunately, NO! I just sent mine back. Everything is SOFT.
I had the same issue's with my XSi years ago. It's the same now
as it was back then. I moved to the Nikon camp, but miss the less
expensive glass and zooms that Canon offers. I enjoyed my 5DMKII
a lot, so I'm going back to that body as soon as my refund has been
returned to my bank account. 5DMKIII is slower, but at least it will
be closer to the image quality I've come to demand after moving to Nikon.

My D810 is a monster bw!

Here's the best image, I was able to get. The horse was stationary, so I
was able to get a pretty decent shot. This is after PP in the Canon and PS programs.
I see Canon is sharpening images with the software straight from the camera, without
user input :( My wife is my second set of critical focus eye's and she's not impressed.
She's not into photography, but she can see how bad this is right away.
