I had the 7D2 on pre order, but since I didn't need it right away, I decided to pick it up later. Seems like I dodged a bullet with all these "poor IQ" threads and such. Is it really that bad or is it just like the 50L threads?

You have to take it as a given that when any new product is released that there are going to be people with negation bias, bad settings, magical expectations, and the occasional genuine lemon.

Have you missed all the posts from people who are getting better AF from the 7D2 than any previous camera?

Here's a Image of a speeder that I went to iso1000 so I could get f8 for the depth and 1/1000 to slow him down, anyone who has tried to shoot the white breasted nuthatch know they don't sit still at all.

Been plying the 7Dii with the 300 2.8 but this morning used the Tamron 150-600; I do declare the AF of the Tamron is faster and more accurate on the 7Dii than the 5Diii. Something else I've noticed goofing around inside the house is the -3EV center focus point that rivals/equals the 6D's, anyway with the Tam:

I spent the rest of the morning with the digiscope and the A6000 comparing and contrasting the 10FPS Sony with the 10FPS Canon bud can't put those pics here.

I have been using a Canon 400/5.6 L USM on my Olympus E-M1, and love the combination, but it is naturally only MF and only wide open.

Actually, you don't have to shoot wide open. When I use an EOS lens with a non-communicating bellows, or a non-Canon lens with dumb adapter, I set the lens to the desired f-stop with a Canon body attached, press the DOF preview, and unscrew the lens. The lens is now stuck at that f-stop and aperture; pretty simple on a prime, but it
may change the f-stop and even the virtual aperture if it's a zoom and you change focal length.

House tiger image decimated by Nearest Neighbor and/or extreme sharpening.

Looks like my PP isn't working. Back to the drawing board. Thanks.

I removed my Nikon images due to popular demand and terrible post processing.

Would anyone be willing to give me a direction to some info on proper PP ? Thanks!

Drdiesel,
You have only one aspect to your consistency, you consistently are make claims of fact/truth based on misinformation or understanding.

Your first bee image for your 7dii while you had it had a very sharp, focus plane (on its tail) yet you claimed it wasn't in focus? The second Bee with your 5dii had the middle of the body sharp but not the head, in my book still a miss like the first. A miss in that you didn't properly get the head, or chose the wrong DOF for the shot (based on focal length and or distance). Now you claim you shoot raw and didn't add any saturation or contrast? Don't you realize that every time you open a raw file by an imaging program it applies defaul values based on its interpreting algorithms of the sensor data? You might not have changed them, but your program certainly applied saturation and contrast.

You are attempting critical thinking, but need better understanding of the mechanics and optics of photography. Some Humble Pie should be on your menu.

Yep! We all need to start somewhere. I'm sure it's not uncommon to start at the beginning and learn to achieve a much higher level of understanding. Any help and insight is greatly appreciated........ Thanks.

Why don't you begin by starting a thread in the RAW, Post Processing and Printing forum, a description of what you are currently doing, what software you use and what you want to achieve.
