You'll need to use DPP 3.14.41 for the 7D files; 4.1 only works with the three current full frames and the 7DII (EDIT: also the 1D C). Since 3.14.41 processes somewhat differently from 4.1, to do a real apples-to-apples you'd probably want to use 3.14.41 for both, although it probably won't be optimal for the 7DII.

That's a pretty shoddy release of DPP if it only works with new cameras; it would be nice if they called that out somewhere CLEARLY when downloading/installing​.

Yup, but at least they did update DPP 4 to include the 7DII (but only for 64 bit systems - it seems like there's always a catch).

hmm.. I'll have to look at that myself again. I thought it was using them all, but you might be correct. Although in the manual, it says most lenses, unless above F/8 can use all the points, I thought? Canon lenses anyways.

Maybe the center are cross type and sides are horizontal only then? I'll have to check.

Edit: Manual says the blinking are indeed horizontal or vertical, not cross type.

posted high ISO shots from my 7D2 i picked up this morning. ISO 1600, 3200, 6400, 12800 and 160000. Shot in RAW and loaded into DPP; moved the luminance and color noise sliders to 0. Exported highest quality. I set the images so they can be downloaded.

I had a love/hate relationship with the 7D. For me, I am very happy with the 7D2 for a crop. For extremely high ISO conditions, I'll go back to the 1DX. I plan on using the 7D2 for wildlife and sports. The shutter is extremely quiet - shockingly so. The reduced weight is wonderful... I get tired of lugging around a 1Dx.

Wow that is disappointing, presumably the edge clusters are horizontal only, this means less cross type coverage than the 7DI but overall some horizontal type coverage beyond that range.

Those two outer clusters are equivalent to the 6 outer cross types on the 7DI, see the overlay image in my post https://photography-on-the.net …p=17171207&post​count=1050.

Please do let us know how well those outer points perform on different subjects and different lightings with the Tamron.

Woot, just received my 7D2. I'm so glad no one is doing unboxing videos anymore.

I should hopefully find out tomorrow , tracking some birds.

Really, I plan on using the group AF in the center most of the time, or maybe its Zone. I know you have to be in one of three modes or something, to use the ITR or whatever.

Jason, any chance you can upload 100% crops of an area with out of focus mid and dark tones for us.

The high ISO shots look like they could be usable at full size and then resize down some. A lot better than on the 7D1 if I remember right.
