As noted before I have had to dial in MFA of about +10 on my 300mm / 7D mkII combination. I checked my 100mm macro and 18-135mm and they were perfect with no MFA. I then checked out the 300mm on my 7D and it needed +10 MFA. I think I may have dislodged something when I fell over and landed on the lens a few months back so now I will have to decide whether to get the lens serviced after my next trip away - probably too late now.

Glad I didn't blame the 7D mkII.

I will be happy if I get shots like this in Thailand (but more exotic species).

What AF cases and which AF points are you guys using for stationary birds and birds in flight?

Right now for stationary birds I use my AF on button with the single central focus point using case 1 (with custom settings -2,0,0 I think it is) and for birds in flight I use the "*" button with case 3 (with custom settings -2,2,2) with a large central zone for focus ponts. Also I have for both first and second shots the priority set for focus.

I use the custom buttons for the different scenarios:
C3 - BIF, Central point + expansion, Case 2 -1, 0 +1
C2 - General birds, Central Point, Case 1 0, 0, 0
C1 - Birds in bushes, Central point or Point, Case 6 0, 1, 1

First and Second shots focus priority.

C3 and C2 seem to work OK but I've not had much chance to look at C1 in the field.
