Well, when you're down here for the Ospreys, PP lessons and Snake hunts :p, we should also be able to see some Kites, in fact yesterday when shooting the Ospreys I squeezed in a couple of a Black Shouldered Kite that looks exactly the same as your White Tailed Kites, I included a couple of shots on flicker along with the Osprey ones yesterday.

I couldn't get a as close as Robertnzana seems to have got, but will go back at some point and see if I can.

And I agree, they are stunning birds, when I first saw it I thought that it was a seagull or something, but then it started to hover and gulls don't do that.

Cheers
Gus

I'm in N California. Interestingly, I have never seen a Kite before a few weeks ago. I saw it first on this forum, a pic taken near San Fran! Then I was driving around the other day and thought I saw some seagulls and they were kites! 2 days later I saw this guy hanging out on a tree. It's a cropped picture using my 100-400. They are stunning! :)

They look like a mix between a sea gull and a hawk. Pretty cool.

^Great shots, everybody!

I just bought mine the other day, super-excited! Yesterday I put in the battery and card, and shot a few test-shots - so far, very impressed with the sharpness, IQ and the additional features compared to my 7D Mk. I. Can't wait to learn more about the camera and improve.

I plan to watch the Rudy Winston videos on Youtube, to get the lowdown and tips. Any other good resources (other than the CD_ROM manual) ?
