...I have been using LR for many years now and haven't had DPP on the last 2 or 3 computers. I'm very comfortable and happy with LR but I'll check out the latest DPP to see what it can do.

you can import and convert to DNG... at least its all in Lr instead of two different applications...

you can copy the CR2's into the folders you normally would - easy enough to see the date of when you started shooting with the 7d2 so when Lr does update - you can 're-import'.

Does anyone know if you can move the vertical exposure meter to the bottom of the screen like the 7D original?

I'm pretty sure that's where it stays (but maybe someone will figure out a way to move it).

I just shot a few crappy shots in low light around the house after the battery charged, and have been trying to process them in DPP 4.1, although I don't know how to do much more than basic adjustments. It does seem to be very good at focusing in low light. I'm also impressed by how well the high ISO files clean up if not overly under-exposed. This camera will definitely be fun to play with! :D

Here's a sample at ISO 16000, first with no noise reduction or sharpening, then with noise reduction (14.3 for both NR sliders) and USM sharpening (3, 3, 1). I think these are 100% crops, but am not sure, as I can't figure out the DPP 4.1 zooming/cropping. All crappiness is almost certainly attributable to me, not the camera or software.

I would think that if enough people complained about the meter they would make a firmware adjustment for it.

I rename and convert to DNG on import using Downloader Pro. I keep the CR2s but very seldom need to refer back to them.

I'll just edit the TIFFs in LR5 till it can read the CR2s directly. I vaguely remember dealing with this when the 40D came out but that was a LONG time ago.

Yes, I was very impressed with that feature and how much control you had over the ISO range and the shutter speed needed to get it to increase.

Nope; that one's not part of the available configurations. It would also be nice if there were some way to display the meter on the top panel, too; but that feature is also missing. Only in the VF or on the rear LCD now.

Welp. I did it. My patience got the best of me. It seems I would be on the late list to get mine from B&H (pre ordered about mid October) and I have not seen anyone stating that they've received any from B&H like over at Adorama. Also, I believe I read on here that B&H has not received any Body only - could be wrong though, but mine still shows "on order" status.

So, guuuulp, I ordered direct from Canon. The good. I was going to spend the money anyway and now I can get the body and grip faster. The bad. I had to pay 6% tax. The good. I will get 3% back fromMr. Rebates (external link), so I will recoup half of my tax payment - not so bad.:D Hell, I've wasted more on some crap photography accessories I thought I needed, which reminds I need to sell some stuff.

Well, at least I was able to get the Body and grip all at once and it will be here by mid next week. B&H has the battery and that's on it's way next week, so I should have my complete kit next week.

To those that already have theirs, post them up.

Another ISO 16000 sample, processed through DPP 4.1 with both noise reduction and sharpening and cropped in Photoshop, so I'm sure it's really a 100% crop. This shows three sections of an image of a cross-stitch panel, with the shadow of the panel on the wall on the right.

It is, but it's unclear from reports how weather sealed. It's somewhere between the original 7D and the 1DX, but I haven't seen anything saying exactly how close to the 1DX it is.
