When commenting on the "IQ" comparing sensors of different sizes, I think it is very important to distinguish full-res IQ and equal-crop IQs. The 7D2 has more resolution and slightly better noise quality, and about the same quantity, when you take a 1.6x crop from the 6D. So, for a person who is focal-length-limited in their most noise-critical shooting, it is a huge mistake, IMO, to buy a 6D for "better IQ", because it only has better IQ when you utilize the FULL frame and are able to go outside the realm of equivalence (IOW, use a DOF shallower at a given FOV than is possible on a crop camera).

Correct, which is why I own both. However, for anything but a focal-length-limited situation, full-frame is going to be the preferred option, at least for me.

I don't have a dog in the fight. Just giving my experiences after using both crop & full-frame bodies, together, for multiple years. Basically my 100-400 v2 lives on my 7D2 for racetracks and zoos, with the 6D being utilized otherwise.

This^^^

Similar set up for me. Telephotos lenses on the 7D MKii and primes and wide angle zooms on the 5D MKiii. Fast moving subject the 7D MKii. Slow and/or low light, the 5D MKiii.

That would be common with a lens with a focal length over 300 or 400 if he doesn't use IS or knows how to steady the lens against his body if he is trying to take the shots handheld.

Ask him/her about his techniques.

Right isnt rule of thumb.. 2x zoom.. at minimal? Then crop recommended.. 2x(zoom x 1.6 if your crop?)

A Rule of Thumb is a starting point. A person with excellent technique can shoot with a much slower SS. Someone who can't hold the camera lens steady may require an even higher SS. All he has to do to see if the problem is related to shake is to shoot from a stabilized position.

Use a quality tripod and see if the problem still exists. If he doesn't have a real good tripod use a bean bag or something such as a bean bag. That will rule out if the problem is camera shake or not.
