I felt like i fought the camera. I went to C1 and couldnt change shutter or aperture. I am new to the camera but I thought C1-3 is like M where you get full reign???

maybe I need to reset camera to factory?

so these pics just didnt seem right but I used the 70-200 f4 non IS that was borrowed. But last week the pics seem so much better...

so tell me what you think. I did mess with the switch on this lens. Not the M or Auto focus but the other. Once I was having problems I switched that switch as I played with that in the house but things didnt click even after that.....

see how the background looks on the first 2? I forget when I changed that switch but looks so much better...

and BTW... I am Riggs so that be my kid!!!!
he wore a shirt there.. then realized he had the wrong shirt on.. hah.. and changed on the side.. thus pics with no name.. pics with name.. then he goalied...

Based on your screen shots, it looks like you didn't mfa the borrowed lens since most look a little front focused. You can see this by looking at the grass.

C1, C2 and C3 are modes that are programable with your own custom settings. You can set them up as any advanced shooting mode - Tv/Av/M along with other settings specific for whatever situation you might want to use them in. I'd suggest a good sit down with the manual (page 464) and some experimentation to figure out how it works.

As for focusing I left a comment in the other thread where you posted but further to that I see that you are shooting @ F/4 200mm. Were you shooting in AI Servo?

I was worried that after shooting landscapes with FF(6D & D600) for the last 3 years that I'd really miss that large sensor. I've been pleasantly surprised with the landscapes abilities of the 7D2. Not bad for a camera that scores below the D300(yay DXO) lol

It's hard to tell as we don't know what AF point you had selected or what AF case you were in.

As far as the C modes, like mentioned before, they are for you to set a preset that by default doesn't change and cannot be changed, i.e. you might set up the camera for Portrait shooting, and then register those settings to C1, and it will lock those settings in place, another one could be set up for action shooting, etc. There is a custom option to allow the C modes to be directly updated that is off by default, this is what you would be looking for if you wanted to update the settings "on the fly" while in one of the C modes. Otherwise you need to stick to your preferred shooting mode (personally I run M with Auto ISO almost exclusively) and use that for dynamic adjustments.

I've just joined your esteemed ranks! As I was working I couldn't go down to the shore to look for a duck but here is a dunnock. I haven't set up many options yet but did use AIServo just in case it flew off. I think it will take some getting used to though - it feels very different to the 5D3.

I'm still impressed with the high-ISO capability of the 7D2. Here's a shot at ISO 6400:

7D2, 100-400 II + 1.4x III, 1/200, f/10, ISO 6400, 560mm

Image editing ok; C&C always welcome.
