OK sorry for cross-posting but if my memory serves, someone wanted to see a pic via the 100-400ii + 2.0TCiii and I can't remember who it was....me thinking either on the 7Dii thread since a lot of 7Dii owners have or will have the 100-400ii or the 100-400ii thread...anyway here is the 7Dii + 100-400ii + 2.0TCiii

Okay one more but I'll let you guys figure out why I took the photo below. Hints: 1. The girl is a pitcher. 2. There is a softball diameter knot in the center of her forehead.

Yup, the auto level function does strange things at times. It works a lot better when there are solid straight lines like structures in the image.

This may be completely off base as I haven't tried the on camera level yet and don't have LR but

The top pic looks to be tilted to the right ever so slightly
For the adjusted pic is it possible that LR is keying in on the most prominent feature which is the dead trees. These are at varying angles. Perhaps it is making a best guess.

From what I remember the manual says the compass needs to be 'set up'. Is it possible there is something similar for the level.

It is generally known that the in-camera levels are inaccurate. They are ok as a rough tool but not at all precise. As for the auto levelling in LR that scene is way too complex. The algorithm needs some info to tell it if there is a horizon or otherwise what is supposed to be vertical or horizontal. You could use a spirit level but really correcting this in LR manually is no biggie.

That tree closest to the centre looks nice and straight to me. Makes sense that LR would choose this for that image.

i can tell you one thing..
with my t2i I had to adjust MANY settings from
Exposure, highlights, blacks, whites, crop, rotate, WB

I have never used the auto features. Just like manually editing each pic for some reason.
With the 7dm2 I have to edit soooo much less.

I mainly just Crop, Rotate all in LR and maybe some NR/Sharpen but that is really it...

Never used the auto rotate.. I click the crop then middle under pic to rotate it.. I look for what I want to level against and adjust it...

that sense of accomplishment I guess manually doing it.. hah :p
