I eventually settled on Case 1 with the tracking sensitivity turned all the way down. I've stuck with that for baseball. Seems to work well for me. I just have to make sure I take enough time to get the focus point (I use one point expanded to 9) on the player before I hit the back button focus. The 7D II focuses so fast if I'm too quick with the focus button before I am on the player, the camera will focus on the background or somewhere else and, since the tracking sensitivity is turned down it will never get on the player. And, if I'm shooting a burst, none of the following photos in the burst will be in focus because the camera is trying to stay on the background ignoring the player. Doc Thanks for the info buddy. I would like to know how you PP the pictures afterwards, because your 16000 ISO shots come out cleaner then my 6400 ISO shots. Lol Canon crap and Canon lenses

I would like to know how you PP the pictures afterwards, because your 16000 ISO shots come out cleaner then my 6400 ISO shots. Lol Well, I use Lightroom CC now, but did the following also in LR 5. I do my normal processing then the last two things I do is noise reduction and then process sharpening. With 16000 ISO photos I have gotten real aggressive with noise reduction, I usually leave the color noise reduction on the LR default of 25 because that has usually taken care of the color noise. With the Luminance noise on 12500 and 16000 shots, I run the slider up to 50 or 60 (in extreme cases). I then sharpen them by running the slider up to about 75 or 80. I then hold the Alt key (on a PC) and run the mask slider up until all I see are the edges (or just the areas I want to sharpen). That way I just sharpen the edges and don't bring noise from sharpening back into the background and other areas where I really don't need to sharpen. 2 Canon 1Dx's | Canon R6 | EF 70-200 F2.8 L IS II | Canon 300mm F2.8 I | EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM | Canon Extender EF 2x III | Canon Extender EF 1.4x III | Editing of photos is okay.

May 14, 2015 01:49 | #5032 We are fortunate here in North Texas with all the rain - a few tornadoes as well - but we really needed the rain. The lakes are full for the first time in at least 10 years. Only downside is that I haven't seen the sun since updating to firmware version 1.0.4 and I am not the only one hoping for a little sunlight ... I thought this Blue Jay was going to ask if he could come inside to dry off for a spell Image hosted by forum (727641) © Lupo-Lobo [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Some of these guys still fly even without wings. Most shots ISO 6400-12800, 24-70f2.8 II, f2.8 and ~1/640. (most had to be PP at least 1/3 stop or more due to auto ISO and bright green unis). I had lens correction enabled so lost Af point display data. Lens was mfa'ed. so 24-70 huh... i did volleyball with my 85mm 1.8 and umm yeah too much on a crop indoor for volleyball.. I have no other lens (50mm f1.8 just didnt cut it.. )... GearBag - Feedback****Flickr - my playhouse

Maybe the 40stm is fast enough focusing? The v1 of the 24-70 f2.8 was fast enough focusing, but despite being good, wasn't sharp enough when combined with the 7dc at 6400iso. Otherwise, you might need to try the v2 24-70 and see just how fantastic it is to replace primes in this range.
