Had a few moments with some well aged birds this evening ...

I like the range between the highlights and shadows on this image. Makes a rich looking B&W. Nice shot.

Thanks DP - It was a three bracket exposure processed with LR 6 merge to HDR and then converted with Nik Silver Effects.

Are you kidding? That's a great shot, sharp(nice work at 1/400) and natural. Love it!

Canon EF 70-200 f2.8 II + 1.4xiii shots w/ 7Dii. Soccer.

Ok, I had to wait for today to get my new 7dii out to the soccer field after 2 weeks. Along with this to replace my original 7D, I also used my new Canon 1.4x iii to replace my Canon 1.4x version ii. Luckily with my fast mfa on my 70-200 f2.8 mk ii gave great results despite being at the back end of the dof. (too low an mfa value used.) I also noticed that the version iii TC is much faster focusing on this lens than ver II and I noticed the lower CA as well. Very happy.

I know others have raved about the focus speed and sharpness. I could not find any oof that were not my fault where I slipped off the player. I used Focus priority for first/second, - 1 tracking sensitivity, +1 accel/Decelfor with single AF point and 10 fps. My only criticism and worry is battery life. I have two original 7d Canon Batteries in a grip. I took 250 shots at the game with decent amount of chipping and it used 20% in each battery. This would net about 600 shots for a full charge with single battery. I will investigate this further. No GPS on, and they don't lose any charge while in sleep mode the last few days.

Here are 10 shots. Nice overcast day couldn't be better.
C&C welcome.
-Guy

Great shots and examples. I need a 70-200 next and although I had great sucsess with the Sigma 70-200 OS(on D7000 and D600) I think I may go with the brand name this time. They look great!

The battery life, yes it sucks, bad. I have a 3rd party battery that worked in the 6D no issue is virtually useless in the 7D2. The OEM isn't much better but at least it keeps the power on through the life of the battery. The 3rd party cuts off on and on requiring power off/on switching. I already chalked up I'll probably get 4 Canon batteries and the grip.

Interesting. I'll have to check that out. If I want punch I create fake HDR using photomatix pro then concert to B&W.
