Also coming from the 40D, I agree, the 7D2 is a bit overwhelming.

I am glad its not just me! But we will figure this out :-)

Coming from the 60 and 70D, I am really having to relearn a lot of ergonomics. I keep pressing the Inner part of the main dial expecting it to react like a D-pad.

Also having to get used to the buttons down the left side of the screen.

I have the 60D as well, but after renting the 5D III for only a few days in the past, I sorta remembered how it handled and now the Mark II feels very similar. I like how the II feels over the 60D. Feels much more solid, and makes my 60D feel like a "toy" almost. It's also a bit bigger and more comfortable for me to hold.

Foggy/Overcast today and 50F, but I'm going to head out and see what I can capture.

Woke up to snow falling in SC this morning. Earliest snow fall on record. Its funny because when I bought my 40D 6 years ago, I woke up the next morning and it was snowing, ran outside with no idea what I was doing and shot some pretty crappy photos. I ran out this morning and did basically the same thing lol. Ok, so maybe my first batch off the 7dII aren't AS BAD as those first off the 40D, but I definitely need to learn this camera.

That's pretty cool to see snow on a palm tree. :D

Meanwhile we are on track of having one of the hottest years in our history. I love snow!

Beautiful website! How do you like the 7DII compared to the 1DX and 1D4?

6400 ISO @ 800mm

As for flight photography (sorry for the butt shot, sucky day with wrong wind direction) the focusing system is equal to my 1DX. Fast, accurate and does well staying on target (I modified my custom focus tracking settings to suit my needs)

butterfly2937, thanks!

So far, compared to the 1DX:
Focus: equal (I really mean that, impressed)
Buffer: perceived less buffering available. (Either a smaller buffer or due to increased file size)
Noise: No fair comparison 1DX kicks butt. (as expected). Better than my older 7D (2 stops??) but the noise is very manageable as long as you're not blocking up your blacks.
Battery: In 34 degree weather this morning, I burned 350 clicks and battery is only down 25%.
Controls: Equal to 5D MkIII and 1DX.
