Either it does not say much for Canons manufacturing accuracy or your bare gear's normal spec variation was on the fringe of being acceptable and the TC just exploited that. 12 just seems like a lot to me. Doing the calibrating was not a big deal, and I'm happy it works well now. So are all my lenses and bodies including that combo but that is still a pretty big shift. It would not bug me either because it is an add on. I think even Canon would laugh at me if I sent all 3 pieces in. It would not do me much good when I took it off Image Editing OK
