Thanks Guys, I am using multiple AF points zone. I think it the best for tracking birds in flight as single spot is just too difficult to keep on the subject for fast moving subjects. As you say, there so many variables so perhaps it is just me but having used the old 7D for so many years I had a feel for this type of photography. I just think this new 7D lacks something.

I've had very little consistent success with and of the zones I think zones are only good if the subject is clearly the closest thing to the camera. Most of the time, a single spot seems to work well for me. Framing a bit more loosely than is my habit is effective with the 7DII - there's plenty of data in a 7DII file to crop some in post. Art Morris has a good series of videos here http://learn.usa.canon.com …birds_as_art_morris.shtml (external link) that I found very useful. He suggests some modification of the cases that work well.

Not technically an "owner", but borrowing a 7D2 from where I work for the weekend to get some test shots. It's not my 1Dx but still a very capable camera and I feel like the colors and White balance looked better on the 7D2, although it's hard to make a fair comparison as I was shooting them at different parts of the track.

Two more.
Unfortunately we can moly post low res, in high res, when zoomed in a bit you can really see how fine the light lines are.

Bit different. I just got this very nice lens EF-S10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM , but i didn't think it would have this much distortion in 10mm. Not all pictures are this bad but ..damn, doesn't seem that bad on linked smaller size but on full size.... It is very sharp, fast and quiet. I really like it tho. Imported to lr -> lens profile -> export

A friend just showed me this lens last week. For the times a wider POV is needed, it's a great choice; and a great value. I'll probably order it today.

For what I do, the reach, dof is perfect. Action shots in the crappy lit arena, turn around and do portraits. No changing of lens/camera needed.

Very nice portrait. What case were you using in the 2nd shot?

Those came out nice. Easy to adapt as they are pretty similar. Interesting comments coming from a 1DX owner. Something I have wanted and briefly considered selling my 7D2 and 5D3 but I won't. The 7D2's focusing system is more than adequate for my needs and think I'd miss my FF. I have decided to pretty much eliminate event photography so I don't really need two bodies but I like both a FF and crop for travel and I'm not a big fan of grips.

For this price it's great value and "upgrade" for my kit lens, even those iso 6400 shots seem sharp(might just be this 7d mk2 :) ). We where on a holiday trip and visited amusement park, sea life in there and cruised around city coast in a boat, all i used was this lens. Was kinda funny since i have long wanted something wider that my kit lens and when i looked at the photos back home ... damn that coast line was far and small. Bit too wide angle :)

Anyway that sea life aquarium was dark as dungeon, but cam and lens worked nice, and some of those iso 6400/8000 and even 12800 was useful for random holiday shots @ fb friends. Really fine grain noise and if lighting is right it cleans really good. Light on my shots @ sea life..wasn't.

Really loving this camera and huge upgrade for my 60D, except int flash, it seem to have lot less power than 60D (need to check manuals)

Don't remember the case, but I was on single point AF, which is where my best luck is. point was on the body of the horse.

Just curious. Any case would have worked for that shot even if the horse was changing directions. Pretty big target and not moving that fast.

From a trip to the zoo the other day. Now that I've used my Sigma 50-150 with the 7D2, it works well and better not fail. It's no longer available. Too bad, it's a nice lens.
