Thanks Guys, I am using multiple AF points zone. I think it the best for tracking birds in flight as single spot is just too difficult to keep on the subject for fast moving subjects. As you say, there so many variables so perhaps it is just me but having used the old 7D for so many years I had a feel for this type of photography. I just think this new 7D lacks something.
I've had very little consistent success with and of the zones I think zones are only good if the subject is clearly the closest thing to the camera. Most of the time, a single spot seems to work well for me. Framing a bit more loosely than is my habit is effective with the 7DII - there's plenty of data in a 7DII file to crop some in post. ). We where on a holiday trip and visited amusement park, sea life in there and cruised around city coast in a boat, all i used was this lens. Was kinda funny since i have long wanted something wider that my kit lens and when i looked at the photos back home ... damn that coast line was far and small. Bit too wide angle
