Have had 7d2 for several months and really having focus issues with the camera when shooting in AI servo. I find camera does not track well, and in fact no where nears as good as my old 7D. I don't think it is me, I used the old one for 5 years and got excellent results. I have two friends with the mark2 and they complain of the same issues. Hope it is just a firm ware fix
I understand where you are coming from. I received mine 4 days after release and it's been a battle all the way. I am starting to get better shots (I think) but I've had to push shutter speeds to the point that the ISO is so high the noise covers any focus issues. On my particular copy it seems the center point is/was causing some of my focus problems. The camera seems to be better with center point plus expanded.
I have been trying for weeks to get pictures of a muskrat but he tends to show up when I have the fly rod in my hands and not the camera. The other evening while waiting to see if he would come along I started taking shots of dragon flies flying by. None of the shots will win any awards but at distances from about 20 feet to 40 feet with the tamron 150-600 on 300mm I was able to get shots where you could see the 'ribbing' in the wings. This was against the sky with nothing the background but it was amazing that the camera could pick up something maybe three inches long at that distance.
I still have to decide if i am willing to accept it the way it is or give it up to canon while it is still under warranty for at least two months for a repair/recalibration that they may decide is not necessary. Decisions, decisions.
