7D II + Canon 10-18mm at ISO 10,000 at a hip-hop dance battle. I was primarily shooting with my 7Dc + Sigma 18-35 f/1.8, but when I saw this guy goin' ham, I was quick to reach for my 7D II on the floor in front of me (I was sitting on the floor), tilt the camera back towards me, aiming up, and rattle off a few frames and 10 FPS. Quite honestly.. I got really lucky with this one. I would love some feedback/constructive criticism though - let me hear it!

What no one has mentioned is, it looks like you were not affected by the florescent bulbs, so the question begs to be asked, did you have the anti flicker on. Also were you using Auto ISO

I like this a lot! You could try a B&W conversion, you may like the look, also removing the colour from the audiances cloths might help focus the eye more on the performance.

Well I picked up a Nikon D810. I have nothing bad to say about Canon and enjoyed shooting them for the last 16 months, it's just I shot Nikon for so long(7 years) it still feels more natural to me shooting one. Plus I feel that the D810 is the ultimate do all body that will cover all of my needs in 1 body. After going to Bestbuy and handling the Nikons, I told myself the only body that would pull me away from the 7Dmkii was the D810(D750 was toy like ,felt cheap) but not at $3000. I caught a fire sale on ebay for an import that I couldn't pass up last week.

I'll be listing my gear in a couple of days. So if there's any lurkers in this thread that are looking for a budget birding setup, PM me, 1st dibs here. My 7D2 and tamron 150-600 pair very well with 0 adjustments that I saw needed. PM me fro details.

10,000 ISO. Insane. I generally avoid going over 1600 ISO, maybe 3200 ISO in a pinch, on my 7D. I need this camera.

I would shoot at 12,800 with my 7D id I had too. As long as the expoxure is good and a little NR produced usable images. I wouldn't for a wedding.

I like it. Nice perspctive. Also nice to see people push the envelope.

A very gray, rainy day at the Airshow- one of the most difficult lighting situations for me. Really need to figure it out.

If I may make a suggestion, when shooting prop planes, drop the shutter speed down to 1/250 or slower (I try to get to 1/100-1/160 nowadays. Your keeper rates will tank, but man, when you see your keepers, you've got yourself a winner.

Also, when shooting airshows, I automatically dial up exposure compensation by 1-1.33 stops. Background is bright so the camera underexposes on the plane. This way, you can capture the details on the darker planes much better and have more wiggle room in post. The sky will get blown out a little bit, but if you're shooting a flat grey sky, or even clear skies without nice looking clouds in the background anyway... doesn't matter to blow out the highlights.

You will really like the propeller blur, instead of freezing it in motion.

Something you folks have already figured out I expect, is the Custom modes store the 3 AF Servo settings in the case setting at the time, rather than a "pointer" to the case selected. eg if you have say case 6 (0, 1, 1) set and store C3, then later change Case 6 to (-2, 2, 2) in M mode, the C3 will still have the old Case 6 setting (0, 1, 1) stored. So the case settings are not global.

Another thing stored in custom modes is any alternative focus mode set on say the * button, say you have this set to say small area - case 3 when you store the custom mode. Then change the setting for * on M mode, the C3 custom mode will retain the definition of the * button - bit more obvious this one.

BTW I love that you can set your custom modes to store any changes you make automatically, this is so useful for me as I shoot birds almost exclusively in M mode, so on the 7DI if using a custom mode I was always storing the current exposure settings as the light changed.

Anyway a few in-flight tests today.
