I have to agree with you completely. I started with a T3i and ended up with a 6D due to shooting sports in low light. But I missed the crop factor and more advanced focusing. I looked into a refurb 5d2/3 and just couldn't pull the trigger. But when the 7D2 came out and after seeing it's focusing capabilities as well as it's 10 FPS, I was completely sold.
I usually wait until a body is available used/refurb, but this one made me actually go and buy new. And I don't regret it for a second.

this pictures deserves to be hung on a wall - incredible

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Hello

A few years ago I owned a 7D and took so many pictures and was satisfied. Then I came finally into the world of full-frame. I think I got stuck there. I bought a 6D and have been incredibly pleased with it. My bag was filled with multiple lenses so I bought a second 6d. At this writing I miss bird in flight pictures. 6D can cope with this task, but it is limited by its AF system.

I have an offer to trade away my older 6D (with Wifi), more than 1.5 years old to a 6 month old 7D MKII. The thing I will miss is that my current objective is bought after full format even though they can be used with the 7D.

When I started shooting, it was very bird I photographed then I think that it became less and less given to 6D are not as good as the 7D on this so maybe I will open their eyes to birds in flight again thanks to the next generation 7D? One thing is for sure. The combination 6D and 7D MKII is the best combination for me if I had to choose (1DX out of the picture).

In January, I have booked a trip to photograph the eagle from the hide. Perfect with new 7D that case. I own a Tamron 150-600 in telephoto.

The 6D and 7DIi should be a great combo - the best of both worlds.

Thanks. The image was taken as the plane rolls inverted for a pass over a mountaintop (where we were standing). Very cool!

Here's what it looked like a few seconds later:

I'll be honest, part of my problem in post is that I'm still using aperture. I do have LR; but haven't found a solid work flow, so I have stuck with Aperture.

is this a LR method?

It can be done in LR like i use, or most other programs.

Spot check- hove mouse over various parts of the or black information, s and look at the rub values to get a feel which way it is leaning (remember, dark or lighter black should be balanced)

Curves - find the curves adjustment. At the bottom is the ability to do it on all channels, or channel (rg or b) by channel to compensate for what you observed.

I used to use imagenomic for noise reduction with my 5D3 but I found that I lost more detail than with my 7D2 whereby I simply use the luminance slider in ACR and it seems to produce better results (to my eye). Am I missing something as I'm no great licks at PP?

Shoot me a raw link of one of your high ISO shots, and I will show you what can be done easily using Noiseware.

Here is a 6400 100% crop comparison between the noise on the 5D3 and 7D2 at 6400, no NR, etc. I shoot sports annually, and I shoot the 5D3 at 6400/12800, and will do so with the 7D2 again this NBA season that is about to start. You can shoot the 7D2 up to 6400 with little issue. There are those that are quite finicky about the 100% crop view, but if you use the correct sequence of tools and NR, the end result can be quite, quite good, and more than enough for a publication, poster, etc.

I am actually comfortable on the 7D2 up to about 12800. Yes it is noisier than my 6D, but the 7D2 can pretty easily be used for the low light concerts I enjoy shooting. With even basic LR noise reduction, I am still perfectly fine with the results I get.
I do have a few issues with focusing on the 7D2 in low light, but that is why I usually have my 6D in tow just in case.
We all get too worked up over noise these days. I still remember shooting film and though 1000 ISO was the highest we would ever see in camera's. To me, it is amazing that the sensors on current, even low end consumer cameras are ok with ISO up to 1600/3200 and getting good quality images.

I assume in your low light scenes, you are in AI Servo, correct? Would One Shot work for what you shoot at all? IE. if you are shooting a stage, and if you can get your DOF to cover most everything on the stage, you might be better shooting in One Shot. It will handle low light better than AI Servo. 3rd party lenses could cause a bit of grief as well with low light shooting/AF acquisition.
