As Jeff indicated, EC needs to be able to adjust 1 of the 3 exposure parameters SS, Aperture, or ISO. So, if you locked all 3, then no EC (auto function) can take place. As far as the bracketing, did you check the setting?

On Manual mode in order to compensate you must also on Auto ISO.

7D2 plus Tamron 150-600 @600 in my backyard. ISO 3200 AND underexposed by a stop(really poor light at my feeders even on a good day, today was very overcast). Not a good recipe for a good pic.

Salvaged with Noiseware Free Edition after LR processing and a heavy crop.

And yes, that masking setup in the Detail section works really well too. I use it a lot.

7d Mark II on-coming subject AI Servo Tracking
FWIW New example.
Oncoming frontal AI Servo AF ~45 miles per hour.

went for a walk yesterday morning. About 18 degrees Fahrenheit.
anyone know what kind of bird this was?

7dii + 70-200f2.8ii+2xiii @ 400mm 1/1000 iso 250 f5.6 single point ai servo.
100% crop (to 872 pixels high x 571 wide)
