Mourning Dove, usually shortened to just dove.
They are all over the place down here. Along with some Whitewing Doves.

digitalparadise Awaiting the title ferry... More info | Jan 03, 2016 22:29 | #8118 Archibald wrote in post #17843223 Do you know about the Masking feature in LR? While in Develop, under Detail, first do the sharpening to your liking. This sharpens the whole image. Now press Alt (in Windows) and while the Alt key is down, move the Masking slider to the right. The image will temporarily turn white, with black areas appearing as you move the slider. This feature detects edges and selects them for sharpening. The black areas are masked so no sharpening is done there. In this way areas with not much detail such as skies won't be sharpened and will thus have less noise. Worth it's weight in gold. I still think that happens in the background when export sharpening as well. Image Editing OK

Yes, that's a very nice stealthy feature.

I can see them coming, and I can see them going. Which was it? Sunset off to the left with sky afterglow going on, and these pelicans where heading home.. They were going not coming, but now that you mention Optical Illusion, I see what you mean.. Knowing they were going, I never viewed it as coming, but you sure are right... You could take it either way

It was heavily wooded where I walked. Many more doves at edge than above path through the middle. Saw 1 hawk flying away, which there were more.
