Outstanding shots McNeese! A good camera with a solid technique.

I am somewhat less than satisfied with the sharpness I am getting. It looks ok, not great, but ok at screen viewing size, but its horrible at 100%.

I will need to sit down with a gauge and see if I am focusing front or back from where it should be. In case I need to do MFA.

I have my AF set for center point focus, with the one ring of AF's immediately surrounding the center point as active. I will also try changing that to center only, and see if that makes a difference.

I'm finding it soft and lacking detail too, or maybe I have been spoiled by my 5D3. I'm not sure if I should keep my 7D2 or not, need to do more testing.

I'd suggest more testing. I did a lot of test shots yesterday to check if my lenses needed micro-adjustment with the new camera, and got very sharp, detailed images.

No, it is not supposed to! Looking at both of mine, the design or shape is a little different, but I didn't try it on either.

I actually had to read the paper that came with the new grip to figure how to open it to load the batteries. I was trying to open it like the 7D grip.

Just got it about 40 minutes ago.

1. Shutter is quiet- 10 FPS is cool

2. Finally- I updated to DPP 4 and I did not have to restart the computer.

3. NR adjustments in DPP 4 are fast - not painfully slow like 3 or older. One of my previous complaints

4. I took one shot at ISO 5000 to see a obvious improvement in high ISO noise. I even disabled it and transferred to PS and it looked pretty damn good. I'm impressed so far.

I have to step out for bit so I can't goof around with it.

Well I have this thread, and a couple of others, to blame for me just spending $2225 on a 7D MKII kit with the 18-135mm STM lens and a spare battery. In stock from B&H with free next day shipping and no sales tax. Oh well, I've spent more money on worse things.

AFMA is your friend if you have not done it yet.

Thanks. I had planned on waiting until the January time frame to get it. I shouldn't have read all of the threads about it, mostly this thread with all of the gorgeous pictures, which weakened my will power.

I went out for a street shoot yesterday, used my 70-200 II with 1.4x III and i got a lot of missed focus shots, with some shots in focus. Never had this much trouble on my 5D3.

When I do AFMA test shots it seems fine.

Dunno what's up, but not overly happy so far.

Okay, I'll post a few action shots late in the game that have the higher ISO's. I'm not claiming to be a great (or even good) sports photographer and some of these shots are cropped a lot. I can't convince anybody to give me a 400 f2.8 lens. The shots earlier in the game before it got dark are a lot better than these.

The whole series for this game can be found at the link below. Almost all of them were with the 7D2 with maybe a dozen or so wide shots with the 7D.

Those look very good. It is great to see what others can do with this camera.
