Yessir. Pre-ordered it Monday morning when my daughter woke me up at 4am and while I was holding her to go back to sleep.

My 7D's a little long in the tooth (still going to keep it for the office work, but I think the shutter needs more lube or something). I occasionally get Err 80 codes thrown at me. I'll send it back to the mothership soon for eval.

For some, not enough of a sensor upgrade = downgrade.

But the question is... 7D Classic or 7D MK II for a new purchase?

Lenses planned to be used with either is a 24-140, 70-200 F4 IS, 10-22 or some other UWA.

i think the only reason to choose the 7DI over the 7DII would be cost. In every other area the 7DII is better.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

Price. You'd save somewhere between $1,000 to $1,400 by going with the original 7D. And as DPReview stated, the sensor technology hasn't advanced much at all in the 5 years since the original 7D.

 I don't put much weight at all in these photos.

I plan to do my own 7D, 7D2, 5D3, 1Dx photo comparisons (when I find time) and then I'll know where the 7D2 stands. Doubtful I can coordinate the time to do this but I have a friend with the A6000 and if the planets align, I might be able to compare some action/servo situations and see.

Unfortunately pics are thin on the ground. I waited a long time for this camera ( I recently bought an X Pro1 to carry everywhere ) and I don't normally pore over new camera releases, but don't manufacturers state the JPEG/RAW improvements over a previous model ? ? ? The Fuji really opened my eyes to what a crop can do in the IQ dept.

EDIT.
Would live to see a sensor to sensor shoutout with these model Julian :)

 Worry not, I'll definitely do a shootout between the cameras I have. Too bad I don't have a 70D to compare with (as it would be the best "direct comparison" to test out the two 20.2mp sensors against one another).

I shoot in RAW so I don't rely upon the built-in JPG engines for noise reduction. It'll just be a matter of when LR 5 will be updated to open and process 7D2 RAW files, but Adobe's generally really good about releasing updates on time.

If sensor technology was your primary concern wouldn't you be buying a Sony a7R with the metabones adaptor and not a 7D2?
This is not exactly a camera that's geared towards landscape shooters... And most other types of photography are not as demanding on the sensor. Right tool for the job mate, this is a kickarse sports camera.

Sadly, we have been mocked by a moderator, changing the thread title. Some of us have already submitted the pre-order. If the camera was shipping, a few of us would have gotten ours by now!

Many of the lens-specific and body-specific threads started out the same way, yet some moderator felt fit to see things different. Lame...

I was wondering about the title change. Sad it was done without consultation? Where I mod we treat that as a major faux pas.

Hey, I'm proud to be a wannabe. I pre-ordered this afternoon. My 7d is still going strong after 5 years, but the new version is calling out to me. I've kind of slowed down with photography lately except for personal family shots, so figure a new camera might enliven my interest. Here's looking at early December! :-)

Some Canon stuff and a little bit of Yongnuo.
