Congrats to both of you.

I'm going try and head out in the morning. I got back a programmed it to match my 5D3 which basically matched my 7D. Two more things I really like.

1. Finally they added a few back buttons to switch between One Shot and AI servo. You still have to hold it but it is far easier using your thumb than trying to locate the DOF button when you are busy. Canon - time for a FM update for the 5D3.

2. The AF selector on the outside of the multi-controller. Awesome feature and will be a huge bonus with birding and sports. I'd pay to send my 5D3 in for a retro if they offered it much like the retro locking mode dial on my 7D.

Good luck getting out tomorrow.

Mine arrives tomorrow so I am planning on going out after voting. Should give me an hour or two of light.

With the bigger DOF button I am just holding the camera with my ring finger on the button all the time now.

You tried with this body or with the old one?

It's much easier now that the DoF button is to the inside of the lens mount instead of the outside; you can just reach it with your middle finger as you hold the camera instead of having to do weird, yoga-style contortions with your off hand thumb. I agree completely that it was just not generally usable in the old configuration.

Still relies that you stay pretty much on target, but the autofocus is doing great with background separation.

I'm about to strangle Amazon.

When they couldn't fill my pre-order, I switched to the kit, which was listed as in-stock. Fast forward to today, when it still says "In Stock" on their site and "get it by tomorrow if you order within xx hours," but it has not yet shipped--despite all weekend and yesterday saying, "Preparing for Shipment."

Now I have an e-mail saying they'll be sending me a new estimate for delivery and apologizing for another delay?!

If I could get PayPal/Buy It Now to finally void the transaction from 10/30 (where Adorama changed the body-only order from "shipping" to "backordered" and left a pending charge), I'd order the kit from B&H or Adorama. No sales tax with Adorama, and though it's 6 months same-as-cash vs. Amazon's 12, at this point I'd rather get the freaking camera! But PayPal is feeding me some line about "wait up to 30 days for voided transactions."

Sheesh!

At least I'm getting the battery grip and a spare battery from Adorama (Amazon still says "Preorder" for both). At this rate, they'll arrive before the camera.

Was this really Amazon, or a 3rd party seller?

Roger Cicala at lensrentals.com tears apart a 7DII to examine the weather sealing; conclusion - "the Canon 7D Mk II may be the best weather-sealed camera I’ve run across." While inside the camera, he also goes through a lot of other internal details that are different from the 7D.

Are you doing the happy dance yet John, your going to be so darn happy in a few hours. Those that are not getting what they are looking for out of this camera are simply not spending the time and not giving them selves the chance to get in tune with this wonderful camera. It is light years ahead of the 7D in every respect. Some of us over here could not be happier and I intend to show just what it can do. It sure doesn't help that Lightroom was not ready with such a big launch, I mean getting this camera and not having the codec is a bit silly but the JPEG is amazing and I can wait. There's so much more to this 7d markII that some are a little boggled. I can say I'm not sure if I'm not dead.....can someone please pinch me.

In my a pinion you can not judge this camera against any other full frame as it is so much more!! For what it was intended.

When will we see some usual photos, not just birds?

Street photos, weddings, landscapes, portraits, cars...?

Even 7DII is perfect for action, sports, long range, it doesn't mean that we cannon use it for usual shooting?

Why don't you just use DPP, do your initial editing, save as TIFF and open in LR for any additional editing and export until Adobe updates. You still get to use RAW this way.
