super shot, I use to do that all the time last year. This 7DII and my 100-400LII will not shoot the moon anymore.

My CF card is Lexar PRO 800X 64gb UDMA 7 for my 7dMKII. I know it is not the fastest but it should be enough for 7D2 right? I guessing that because lately I've been shooting with higher ISO due to the time I am been going out to take pictures could possibly filled my buffer easily. Am I right for this assumption?

I think what your camera is doing, as in filling the buffer and slowing down, should tell you what you need to know about the cards you are using. Four or five months ago Amazon had Lexar Professional 1066 CF cards on sale. The 32gig card I purchased there was half the price of the 16gig card I had picked up at a camera store. My camera currently has a 32gig 400x SD card and the 16gig CF card. I am not comfortable with all the little pins in the CF socket so I have the camera set to write to the SD card first. Shooting that speed SD card and jpg at 5 fps has never filled the buffer but I've never just held the shutter button in to see how long it would take for the camera to slow down either. The camera tells me about 65 shots but .....

Clearly I have been wasting my time shooting the wrong type of wildlife. I think I need to change directions.

Yes with Jpeg I have the same thing no filling of buffer, (during party I shoot mainly jpeg) Wildlife/birds I shoot Raw after about 1 press in burst mode after maybe 10 to 15 frames my camera slowed down 1 to 2 shots I suspect because the buffer is filled and has to breath :). And in the LCD The count of frames I see is 22 and 23 that is about the same with my 7D and I thought it should be more with 7D mark II.

Yeah, that sounds like the buffer is full so: make sure the CF card is first card if you have two cards in and then go for a 1066x card. When I bought mine on Amazon it was cheaper to get two 32gig than one 64gig. Right now a 64gig on Amazon.com is about $80

4000 ISO, not too bad

Request for opinion: Looking at this after I posted it, does it seem to blue, too cold? This is the WB as shot, but in actuality it was fairly warm lighting.
