IIRC, it took LR about 2 weeks to update their raw converters for the 50D (which I got on release day). I have subsequently had to upgrade my LR and Photoshop versions to get ACR for newer cameras (the 7D and 6D, primarily)--but that's a gripe with Adobe's forced-obsolescence model more than anything else. I'm just hoping they don't force me to switch to Photoshop CC (I still use CS6) just to get the 7D2 into their ACR module... but I'm fully expecting it.

I read that stand alone CS6 will get the upgrade. I hope so.

Photo Mechanic will work fine, uses embedded jpeg. Love that program - FAST!

Subscribed.

BTW (sorry if this has been discussed already)-any issues downloading the RAW files from the 7D II to either Photo Mechanic or LR (I'm still using LR 4 but I'm starting to get impatient waiting for LR6 so I could always upgrade if needed) ?

Thanks!

Are you doing the happy dance yet John, your going to be so darn happy in a few hours. Those that are not getting what they are looking for out of this camera are simply not spending the time and not giving them selves the chance to get in tune with this wonderful camera. It is light years ahead of the 7D in every respect. Some of us over here could not be happier and I intend to show just what it can do. It sure doesn't help that Lightroom was not ready with such a big launch, I mean getting this camera and not having the codec is a bit silly but the JPEG is amazing and I can wait. There's so much more to this 7d markII that some are a little boggled. I can say I'm not sure if I'm not dead.....can someone please pinch me.

In my a pinion you can not judge this camera against any other full frame as it is so much more!! For what it was intended.

Not yet Jeff. Some dingdong request ground shipping when the order was placed.

Adobe hasn't updated their profiles for the new camera yet. I'm using DPP 4 to process and export as TIF - I then import into Lightroom.

LOL, it appears the birders and sports folks are the early adopters.

I think most of us that have them are in the middle of the winter grays and haven't really had an occasion to, yet :p

Hopefully some will start to come in but this more of a sporting/birding camera so these will be up first. Not that it can't do good landscapes but everyone is looking at the AF capabilities and sharpness which is everything if you are a birder. First thing I do with new gear is find birds an observe beaks, eyes and claws when on the screen. This tells me how sharp things are.

When this lousy weather breaks I'll do a mix.

Most of these are from Cline Vineyards in Sonoma. (external link) All are with the kit EF-S 18-135 STM checking out both the camera and the lens. I think the lens will make a good outdoor general purpose addition to my kit. Happy with both the focus and color.
