You are right. That is the scenario I am referring to.
I have no doubt that 7D2 is the best crop sensor camera today, and a great one too. I am not looking for math (otherwise I would consider a 20MegaPixel camera, with 1200mm Carl Zeiss lens (external link) :) ). I am just looking for the 7D2 owners, who also happen to own a 5D3, to compare their actual tight crops and confirm the advantage. If the the picture quality is not the same at 100% then the effective reach advantage is not 1.6x times. So the question is, what that number is in reality? Is it 1.4x or 1.2x? That would define if it is worth buying this camera as a second body in addition to 5D3, just for the extra reach.

I did a 7D vs 5D3 test just like this, and found that adding the 1.4x to the 5D3 made up for the difference. Click my mini-reviews link in my signature and look for the 7D vs 5D3 review. The 7D2, hopefully, retains a bit more detail with the increase in resolution and hopefully altered AA filter.

By the way. It appears DPP 4 does not allow you to disable the NR in the preferences. Is this somewhere else? I disabled it in the camera but it applied NR anyway.

As near as I can tell, you have to go in and manually turn the sliders down each time you fire it up.

Thanks. I don't mind it on actually as it does a good job. When I start to play with stuff with both DPP and ACR adobe won't recognize the NR settings anyway. Imagine when we get to start to apply the masking slider in the sharpening tab when Adobe updates.

I think you test high iso under poor light conditions , that's is where it's for.
Not to set you iso high put all the lamps on and than make a picture under well lighted circumstances.;)
