I was there a couple weeks ago, but didn't see or hear the bittern. Were you at one of the hides? I hope to get there again soon, if my sore back lets me.

Okay, I've been suffering from a very bad cold, upper respiratory, slight bronchitis, etc. since last Thursday. Was feeling slightly better Sunday but not good enough to go shoot the baseball game like I planned.

So, I decided to sit on my backyard patio and shoot whatever critters that might happen by.

Result: Failure. Only critter was my dog and none of the birds got anywhere close.

Conclusion: My backyard is not exciting as Jeff's is.

Oh, I did get a silhouette shot of the last of a small group of large helicopters that flew over. Found out later that is was probably the one the Governor of Louisiana was in coming back from visiting all the flooded areas north and west of us.

Now, I need to shake off this cough and get back to shooting some sports.

Wish I could get some sunshine when I'm not at work!!
Here are a couple from my backyard.

Otis the flying Jack Russell. He and his sister are 17 weeks. She suffered a bad front leg fracture and had surgery 3.5 weeks ago (getting along marvelously) so she cannot yet participate in the running and jumping that keeps Otis all smiles.

Otis was actually sitting in the blind with me and by "sitting" I mean sniffing every inch of it, bumping the walls, sticking his nose out from underneath the blind.... typical puppy exploration stuff! I was set up near one of my bluebird houses hoping the pair that are trying to settle on a house would show up. They almost seem to be building in 2 of my 3 houses, I watch them fly back and forth between them, go in, come out, stand guard, fly away, come back and repeat with sticks, grass, etc.
