Hey, I'm proud to be a wannabe. I pre-ordered this afternoon. My 7d is still going strong after 5 years, but the new version is calling out to me. I've kind of slowed down with photography lately except for personal family shots, so figure a new camera might enliven my interest. Here's looking at early December! :-)

I'll drink to that.

Julian, my apologies. My actions regarding the thread title change were in no way meant to mock anyone.
I am very excited about the 7D2 and want to own one ASAP!

I was merely amused at the record speed that this thread started and was impressed how many posts were generated before anyone could get their hands on it.

This was not intended to rain on anyone's parade. It was however intended to be a joke. Not on anyone.
With you. I see I failed. Of course in hindsite, "wannabe" is certainly a bad choice of words.

I will get it changed back asap.

Sorry the joke went over my head. I was surprised that the title had been changed but no mention as to why. I'm accustomed to mods stepping in, saying their locking/deleting/changing something with a brief explanation. The lack of any official word/acknowledgement seemed uncharacteristic of POTN.

That and I didn't want any fellow posters in this thread (or future posters) think I was the one that used the words "wannabe owners" in the title. I know there are many, very hard working people who aren't as fortunate financially as some of us who can pre-order the camera. I didn't want them to take it as if I'm rubbing it in their faces by calling them "wannabes".

All's good. Misunderstanding cleared up. Let's resume the silliness that is our excitement and hysterical impatience!

I liked the changed title better :)

I am happily a wanna be although still just a little concerned about possible sensor let down compared to 1D4. But to be honest, I need the reach and the megapixel for wildlife so I most likely will pay up. I also have to remind myself that I do get some pretty awesome shots out of my aging 7D and this can only be better

In terms of pushing shadows on low ISO shots, I downloaded this file in raw, opened it in Irfanview and converted to a tiff. Opened that in camera raw (it wouldn't open the raw file, hence the extra step in Irfanview) and increased exposure 3.5 stops and cropped it for the shadow area (the tree). In the second set, I took the original image and pushed the shadow slider to the maximum, but didn't change the original exposure. The crop is from the shadowy right side of the image. No other editing. Here are the results, the unchanged original and the cropped image with the pushed exposure, and the entire image with the pushed shadow setting and a crop from it.You can judge for yourself how well this 7D II raw performed when pushed. It was ISO 100.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

On the other thread people were saying that infraview will use the embedded jpg not the raw. In other words NR has already been applied.

Vorlon1 nice work.

Magwai, Vorlon1 went through several different sources to push the photos. Check out the results in the same thread.

But there have been images released. So we can start by linking to those, though I don't know where they're located. ;)
