There are only 40 -50 pairs in the UK mainly on the west of Scotland after re-introduction in the 70s and 80s. After carrying my 150-600 up hill and down dale with narry a sighting, it turned out our best sighting happened just outside the hostel we were staying at! Lucky enough to see a pair trying to do their mating dance but being badgered by an obnoxious crow that just wouldn't give up.

I like the reach of the 400mm but the 70-300L is a way better carry lens, it will do landscape and critter's much better in my area, the bush here is kinda close if you know what I mean. My 7D was a beast but I think I learned to tame it. and the images I get from it are still I think very good. Jeff ........, 7D, 70-300L, 100-400LII
