Why not just alter the meta data to read as a 70d for Lightroom or PS.

Because of the less than 10 fps or something else?

I don't know yet. Someone else pointed out it will just not let me get to10 FPS. It will shoot as fast as it can based on the conditions. Perhaps it struggles trying to get to the fastest set FPS. That is first generation IS. Has that slap followed by the grinding noise. I''ll test out my 100L Macro IS as well.

I have lot of experience birding so this was a bit of a surprise but I'll figure it out. Had to be something I did wrong. I took the iTR off as well today. I'm going to try at 7 FPS and with the IS on and off. I have shot with the IS on since owning for the last 9 years for just about everything with all my previous crop bodies.

Yeah, I think it just drives the rumor that the 100-400 is about to get replaced by a new gen one :)

Also, have you checked the shutter priority settings for AI Servo? IIRC, the settings for first and subsequent shots is set to a default of speed/focus. It will likely slow you down from max speed, but setting both to full, Focus priority might help increase your results.

The fact that there are now actual photos, instead of a poorly done render, running around helps with that, too.

I"ve read about it but have not explored it yet. Thanks. I am on focus priority. The AF locks on fast. Faster than my 7D did but I didn't get a keeper when I looked on the screen at home.

I believe the new 100-400 will equal $$$$$$$$$ based on the 200 - 400 pricing. Mind you the built in 1.4 makes the price higher.

Case 2 worked well. I was tracking cars that went behind a large stone monument. The AF tracked the car, it showed up at two places on the monument as the car was behind it and the monument stayed OOF and when the car reappeared it was in still focus. I tried this several times and it worked well.

Just noise reduction in CS6... Nothing more...

:)

At the large view, something looks odd. Did you push highlights down and shadows up or something in DPP? The image looks very harsh, the ISO 16000 shot I worked on yesterday seemed cleaner to me? I am only commenting on the technical part of the image, not the creative compositional content, which is cool.

Nice. Also, what AF selection settings have you tried with? The one action shoot I have been able to do so far was my company's flag football game last week, and when I tried to use any of the zone settings it kept jumping off my subjects to the background even after I'd 'locked' on to them with the initial AF point. Going to have to play around with the settings a bit more, or just go back to the old, standard single point + expansion shooting.

For those still looking to buy... Just saw Adorama is now bundling a free cam ranger with the 7dII KIT!
Wish my salesman would have given me that info since I just bought one from them.

I think if the Camranger works well as it should, that will be a killer video combination for those who shoot events on a tripod. Yes, the touch screen would have been ideal; articulating sweeter but, for $2,149 (body + 18-135 STM); you are getting the Camranger for free! Can't beat that.

I just got mine from Adorama! Not sure how long its going to last; grab one if you'd like bw!

Sorry about that. I have both 1st and 2nd image priority set on focus priority just like my 5D3. I was not sure what you meant by IIRC.

I tried centre zone which yes was lighting up like a christmas tree like my old 7D. There was some mild cloud mix so probably it effected that as well. Best on a clear day if are no other obstructions. I always shot using centre point and expanded with the 7D. I figured I'd try more expansion points and zone with the new body.

I tried centre point as well but not for long. I'll get out there again.
