That looks like Rose Hills!

Good stuff, btw.

Thanks. No that is our parliament building in my home city in Canada. Not Ottawa.

I believe it's due to the new IR and RGB metering system, it is very useful for better WB analysis, exposure, and probably AF as well. Not sure about AF, but IR aware sensors can help with AF if utilized properly, IR can see things that are quite difficult in the visible spectrum. I believe the system does work with Live view stills and movie AF.

I am going to experiment with doing my single-shot shooting by manually setting the center point as the starting point for 65-point AF in AIServo, so the iTR can maintain the focus point as I recompose; that way I don't have to switch back-and-forth between One Shot and AIServo for still and moving subject. Just trying it last night in the house, it did maintain the same subject region with the floating AF points if I did not recompose too fast.

I read in some pages back about folks complaining about battery life.

I charged by battery, as I do in the same way with my batteries of the 7D and 5DIII.

It took a few hours to charge the battery that came along with the 7DII. Later that evening I spent about a hour going through the menu to set it up. During this process my battery died on me.
Ok, so I get another one I have, and install it and keep going.

I put the original battery that came with the 7DII back on the charger to recharge yesterday evening, before going to bed. This morning it still was blinking yellow.

My conclusion at this point is a faulty battery, it should of been fully charged.

So others who have been complaining about short life span with there battery full charged, may just be a bad batch of batteries coming with the camera, and not the camera being a battery hog.

Will have to investigate further...

Oxidized or dirty battery contacts, it sounds like, or worse, a defective battery with a poor internal connection.

Why not just select the correct point once you have recomposed?

I shoot busy, living things, not bowls of fruit and corpses.

The whole idea of selecting a focus point on a per-frame basis for the things I shoot is completely absurd. By the time I press the button to select a point, the subject is gone forever.

I'd be more wowed if this were done on a tripod. Tripods impede spontaneity, and the kinds of exposure times you could get away with on a tripod for a still subject would never freeze the bird the way it was done there.

I pulled the trigger on one after screwing around with Amazon for a chunk of the afternoon. Now I wait.

Taken in poor lighting in my living room while sitting on the couch playing with my 7D MKII.

According to the manual, ITR only works in the auto AF modes.
From what I saw. Zone/65pt and large expansion I think.

I ordered 2 x 2600mah batteries for 30$ or something. Got great reviews.
Then got the 64gb Sandisk udma-7 card. Should be awesome.

I have not seen very many. My static shots are fine and there are tons of posts with excellent shots.
