Some noise reduction on the background an you would have a lovely looking shot. That is very cool.

I tried expanded AF today (4 pts) and it was hit and miss. Really depends on many factors it seems like. Not sure what case or settings to use yet for BIF shots. Tried all the cases and other variations. Some cases might be too slow and others might be too finicky and move to the background. Glenn Bartley suggested to use Case 1 with all sliders to the left I believe. But that seems slow to me, when trying to react to a BIF quick. Although it might stay locked on better. I saw one bird photographer who blogged he chose Case 3 and the set his 5D3 to -2,2,2. He figured you might as well have it stay dead on the original subject and follow it every where it went. He did have a post saying that he had adjusted to another setting.

Nov 08, 2014 20:10 | #1358 Today was my second day of shooting with the mkII. I was also testing out a Canon 2x TC mkII with the 500 mkI, handheld. Didn't have the best of conditions though, at least a 25mph North wind. Was able to find a spot a little less windy below the pond that held a few sparrows. Cropped Everyday use: 7D2, 1.4x v3 Canon TC (sometimes the 2x v2 Canon TC), Canon 500mm f4 L IS USM; 6D, 24-105L

Scrumhalf Cream of the Crop More info | Nov 08, 2014 21:30 | #1365 Terrific eagle shots, Severnum! I too was out birding today and the only thing that happened was that a bald eagle pooped all over my car. Damn, what a mess it way. Luckily, my OCD personality does not let me leave home without a full complement of detailing supplies in the trunk, so the paint job was rescued without much trouble! Sam
