I just added a 5D IV to my 7D II to shoot birds with my 500 F4 II. When I did some controlled "croppability" tests, I found that the 7D II still out-resolved my 5D IV, but that with a 1.4x TC, the 5D IV beat the 7D II. The order was...
- best was 7D II with 1.4x
- second was 5D IV with 1.4x
- third was 7D II bare
- fourth was 5D IV bare

The 5D IV is still very croppable though.

SD

Would this not be expected?
5div is 30 Mpixels
SO 30Mpixel * (1.4^2 / 1.6^2) = 23Mpixel which is > 20 Mpixels of 7dii
This equates to 7% more linear pixels on the duck at the cost of 1 fstop.

Where are you thinking about heading? I was considering heading toward the north Jacksonville coastal parks very early Fri morning to try to catch the storm coming in, but still haven't decided. The routes to spots I typically like may very well be under water by the time I try to head home. :p

Oh yeah you'll be getting it a bit earlier than up here. At this point, I think I'll just bunker down with the dog at home. Almost anywhere I would have liked to shoot in Jacksonville has been under mandatory evacuation since this morning, so it would be pretty tough to get to most of the spots.

Tried some landscape shots on the way home from shooting race cars. Was much quieter.

Sometimes you get bored waiting for the sun to come up,... But the Wolves howling nearby will always keep you entertained. Moments after I shot this a massive bull Moose became my focus

I really like these, especially the dynamic range in the first one - I love the vibrance. Would you be willing to share how you achieved this, please?
