I suspect your mind was reeling from all on the information it had assimilated on the new camera by time you reached that point.

I did go back to center point which is what I'm used to but only took about a dozen shots after a long day. I'm in the wilderness today so I'm limited to testing. A few small birds at the feeder and an occasional raven flying by. Overcast and too cold to stand outside for an hour hoping one flies by. Image Editing OK

But I gotta try and make sure it's good by then, since I fly back home for Thanksgiving, and at that point, cannot return it. My Flickr page - https://www.flickr.com/photos/86957042@N07/

I took it back out the next day and AF was dead-on all day. I did exactly the same the day after shooting a soccer game , when shooting a rugby match and it was spot on. Mike

Short of having a 1DX this little gem makes everything else kinda obsolete, at least in bad lighting situations. Now to find an inexpensive grip... any ideas anyone? Hahnel have said one is coming, so just waiting now. Mike

Looked in the owners manual and eit just says you can turn it on which helps with super telephoto lens when they cany achieve focus but doesnt tell you how to. I think you want to turn it focus search off, so that if you can't achieve focus it stops trying and not make things worse. I leave mine off because if doing BIF and I miss focus, with it on, the focus goes way out of whack and requires more work to get back. Personally, I think it's best to leave it off. Kickflipkid687 wrote in post #17262745 Maybe not the BEST way to check. I really should use the setup that clearly shows front/back focusing better. http://photographylife.com …dslr-for-autofocus-issues I did another test quick this morning, with the Tamron. Same lighting, slightly further away, and a different subject (barcode label). The lens focused perfectly in 10-15 shots, and I actually had to remove the micro adjustment..... So I need to keep checking. I'm positive I was outside of the minimum focusing distance before. By at least 3-4 ft. " The chart should take about 1/3-1/4 the size of the entire image, as shown below" This was the case for my 70-200. Not for the Tamron at 600mm though. But as I said yesterday. Both lenses were randomly missing focus but alot. Or screwing up. Also my 70-200 was twitching back and forth in One Shot. They both "seem" to work fine now. The real test will be this weekend probably, if I can get out and do more wildlife shooting. Thanks for the info. Gear

I did not look for one. I ordered mine with the Canon grip and spare battery.
